Biography

I studied Arabic right from my childhood in the religious seminary.

I hailed from Sheikhpura- Bihar. After matriculation from a village I joined Patna college- Patna from where I came to JNU for my Higher studies.

I did my Ph.D on Madrasa Education in India: A case study based on colonial impact.

During my study I worked as Guest faculty in the Department of Arabic, JNU for three Years.

In 2001 I joined the EFL University, previously CIEFL

Teaching

Taught in the department of Arabic, School of Arab and African Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for three years as Guest Faculty between 1992-1994 and 1995-1996.

Taught in the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages since January 2001.

Teaching in the English and Foreign Languages University since 2007.

Research Interests

Research project: Did a Minor Research project on contribution of Hindu scholars to Arabic Language and Literature in India.

Area of Research: Modern Arabic prose especially fiction, Translation, Indo-Arabic Literature, Travelogues, Biographic Literature, Arabic studies in Indian religious seminaries.

1. Mr. Raizuddin Alom submitted his M. Phil dissertation on “Mustafa Lutfi al-Manfaluti: an essayist” in July 2007 and awarded in the same year.

2. Abdullah Abdul Azeez Saleh a Yemeni student with English department of our university submitted his M.A. research paper on “comparison of translations of Seven Odes by Imra’ul Qais, a noted poet of pre-Islamic Arabia” under my co-guidance in 2007 and passed out.

3. Md. Mushahid submitted his M. Phil dissertation on “Development of Arabic studies in Orissa”in July-August 2008 and awarded in the same year.

4. Noor Alam submitted his M. Phil dissertation on “Istaadatu al-zaman al-mafqood” wa“Min Beirut ila hadramaut” (two auto biographies of Yemen): a comparative study” in July-August 2008 and awarded in the same year.

5. Jaffar K.P. submitted his M. Phil dissertation on “Arabic Journalism in south India: origin and development” in July-August 2009 and awarded in the same year.

6. Salman P. submitted his M. Phil dissertation on “Al Hasad wa fi Qafilatu al zaman (two novels of Abdul Hameed Jawdah al Sahhar” in July-August 2009 and awarded in the same year.

• M. Phil. (awarded with ‘A’ Grade) in 2003 from CIEFL, Hyderabad on “A Comparative and Critical Study of “Al-Ayyam” (by Taha Hussain) and “Hayaati” (by Ahmed Ameen)” under the supervision of Professor Mohsin Usmani.

• I was sponsored and hosted by King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies (distributing the International Faisal Award for science, medicine, literature, etc.), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to research and complete my doctoral thesis and visit the Kingdom’s Universities, Libraries, research centres etc. during November – January 2004 – 2005.

INNOVATION OF COURSE MATERIAL FOR MANUU, HYDERABAD:

1. Directorate of Distance Education, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad has published a Self Learning Course Material for M.A. Islamic Studies (Paper – 4, BKID - 504) on “History of Islamic Culture” at RCL Technologies Limited, 2014.

I have contributed in developing the course and written for the said course ONE BLOCK (Block: 3) consisting of FIVE UNITS (10 – 14) on “Dynastic Governments of Islamic History”. Number of Pages: 108 (159-266).

BOOK TRANSLATED:

1. Translated an Indian Autobiography entitled “Tazkirah Khaandaan-e-Baaghazaal” authored by Sayeed Bin Mohsin Baaghazaal, from Urdu into Arabic namely “TAREEKH-O- AAL E BAAGHAZAAL”. The book was published at SAM Computers & Printing Press, Hyderabad in May-2009. Translated chapter consists of 72 (1-72) pages.

DESABHAKTI POEM TRANSLATED INTO ARABIC

1. Arabic Translation of a Desabhakti Poem (Hubbul watan) published in the book entitled “Gurajada’s song of songs” (Telugu original and Translations in several languages), on 21 September, 2012.
