Biography

I studied Japanese at JNU, completing BA and MA in 1997 and 2000 respectively. I finished 2 years pre-PhD course from JNU in 2002 with a dissertation titled “A Comparative and Contrastive Study of Proverbs in Japanese and Marathi”.

Teaching

Taught Special Diploma in Japanese Translation and Civilization at University of Pune from August 2005 till November 2009.

Taught Japanese at the Japan Cultural and Information Centre, Embassy of Japan, New Delhi from January 2001 till March 2002.

Currently teaching BA and MA Japanese courses in EFLU from November 2009.

Research Interests

Japanese language and literature, literary translation, Japanese proverbs and supernatural tales.

Biography

I completed my B.A. (Hons.) in Japanese and M.A. in Japanese at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

I completed the Japanese Language and Culture program at Osaka University of Foreign Studies, Osaka, Japan.

I finished my M.Phil in Japanese Studies at the Department of East Asian Studies, University of Delhi.

I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Japanese Studies at the Department of East Asian Studies, University of Delhi.

I worked as Lecturer at the Department of Japanese, Visva-Bharti, Santiniketan, West Bengal till November 2009. Taught courses like ”Introduction to Classical Japanese Language and Literature”, ”Intro- duction to the History of Japan”, ”Insights into Japanese Society” etc. at the Masters level, and courses like ”Listening and Conversation”, ”Selected Readings in Japanese Text” and ”Elementary Japanese Grammar” at the undergraduate level in two national universities of India.

Biography

Mahmood Alam is Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Persian Studies, School of Asian Studies, English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. He has previously served as Documentation and Research Officer (Technical Assistant) in Victoria Memorial Hall (Museum) Kolkata (between 2003 and 2010). He obtained his M.A. and M.Phil in Persian from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Ph.D. on “Persian Heritage in Bengal (A Study Based upon Manuscripts)” from the Department of Persian, University of Calcutta, Kolkata. He has also reviewed the Persian Manuscripts in the collection of Victoria Memorial. He has several research articles in Persian, English, and Urdu to his credit published in the reputed journals in India and abroad. He has also participated in several national and international conferences in India, Iran and Turkey. Dr. Alam knows Urdu, Hindi, English, Persian and Bengali. Dr. Alam is recipient of Professor Abha Kulsheeshtha ‘Najma’ prize for Arabic, Persian and Iranian section in 46th All India Oriental Conference, 2012. He is a life member of the Asiatic Society, Kolkata; member of The Islamic Manuscript Association (TIMA) Cambridge, UK and associated with several academic bodies.

Biography

I attended the Centre for Korean Studies, JNU as an undergraduate and on completion of my B.A course (2003), I was awarded with the Korean Government Scholarship to pursue Masters in Korea.

I graduated from Yonsei University, Seoul, ROK with a Master’s degree in Korean Studies (2008) and further enrolled for PhD in Korean Studies program at the Graduate School of International Studies, Yonsei University, Seoul and have completed the required coursework. During the course of my PhD program, I was awarded the Korea Foundation Fellowship and Lotte Foundation Scholarship for outstanding performance.

I have also completed an Advanced Level of Korean Language program (2005) from Kyung Hee University, Seoul and a Korean Literature Translation Program (2006) from Korea Literature Translation Institute, Seoul.

On completing of my PhD coursework, I joined Jawaharlal Nehru University as a Guest Lecturer for 3 months and was required to teach remedial courses at the time. Simultaneously, I also worked as a Guest Lecturer at the Indo-Korea Centre, EMPI Business School, New Delhi for 4 months.

In the meantime, I was appointed as an Assistant Professor at The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad and have been working here since then.

Biography

Mr. Rakesh Ranjan is Assistant Professor in Chinese language, literature & culture studies at the Department of Chinese, Japanese & Korean Studies, School of Asian Studies, The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, India. He comleted his BA (Hons) and MA in Chinese with highest CGPA from Centre for Chinese & South-East Asian Studies, School of Language, Literature & Culture Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India in the year 2006 and 2009 respectively. JNU also awarded him with “Vimala Saran Memorial Gold Medal” for securing highest CGPA in MA Chinese. During 2007-2008, he was awarded Chinese Government Scholarship for pursuing advance studies in Chinese at East China Normal University (ECNU), Shanghai, China, where he was also awarded“Outstanding student Award” for academic excellence. He was alsoselected by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to be a part of Indian Youth Delegation to China in Oct 2006. He has been teaching Chinese at EFLU, Hyderabad since June 2010.
