District Centre Scheme

The DCS, a Government of India Scheme has been in operation since 1985. It aims to provide saturation level training to all teachers of English in the State/UT, especially those in rural and backward regions,through short orientation courses supported by long term course in the distance mode. It also offersneed-based training to teachers on a sustained basis. The overall goal isto develop each District Centre in to an ELT resource centre for the benefit of teachers of English in the district and the community as a whole.Through its twenty nine DCs, the scheme has so far provided essential in-service training to more than 40,000 English teachers from secondary schools in the government sector.
