The Addhyatmaramayanam is composed in the Kilipattu (song-of-the-bird) tradition, in which a bird - mostly, a parrot - is the one who sings the verses. Ezhuttacchan is, in Malayalam, the pre-eminent exponent of this form of composition. In a recitation, then, it would be the reciter singing Ezhuttacchan singing the bird singing Sivan singing...
