1.What is the aim of these courses?
These courses aim at introducing the user to the language concerned and
its culture, to some extent.
2.In which languages are the courses available?
The Programmes are available in :
- Chinese
- French
- German
- Japanese
- Spanish
3.Who has designed these courses?
Under the unique initiative of the University Social Responsibility, these
are introductory courses to the languages concerned, are developed by the
faculty of the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad.
4.Do users have to pay a fee to pursue any of these courses?
All the beginner level courses are free of cost
5.Are there any prerequisites to join this course?
No, this course is for complete beginners. You need not have any prior
knowledge of the language concerned.
6.Who can benefit from these courses?
This course is open to anyone who is interested in learning foreign
languages and wishes to develop their communicative skills, irrespective
of their age or background.
7.What aspects of communication do these courses offer to its users?
After the completion of a course, learners can use language expressions
required for every day communication, such as greeting someone,
expressing oneself, etc...
8.Are all the courses designed in the same manner?
No, each language course has been designed taking into account the
linguistic, communicative and cultural specificities of that language.
9.How long will it take to complete the course?
As this is a self-paced course, one can navigate through the modules and
choose the ones they want to practice. At the end of the lesson, they can
practice the exercises whenever it suits them.
10.How can I make the best use of this course?
There are around ten to fifteen lessons or modules in each course. Each
lesson has a 15-20 minutes video with communicative expressions, some
rules of grammar and pronunciation, and some information about the
culture in which the language is spoken. Apart from this, there are also a
few exercises that you can do in any order, to verify your learning. There
is no limit on the number of times you can do the exercises.
11.Is there a certificate at the end of the course?
Since the course does not entail any formal assessment, there is no
certification.
12.How many courses can I sign up for?
There is no limit to the number of courses you can sign up for. But
remember that you have to register for each one separately.
13.Will I qualify for a seat in the BA programme in the concerned language
at the English and Foreign Languages University after completing this
course?
Since the objective of these courses is only to provide practice in learning
language required for every day communication, it does not guarantee a
seat in any of the regular programmes offered by the English and Foreign
Languages University, Hyderabad.
14.Will I qualify for a seat in the next level for Part-Time Programs in the
Foreign Language after completing the course?
Yes, after appear and qualifying in the entrance test that the
University/Institute concerned conducts for admission to the next level.
15.What is the structure of these courses?
Each lesson has 2 parts (1) video lecture with multimedia, (2) self assessment through tests and quizzes.
16.Are these courses downloadable?
No. These courses are not downloadable.
