Establishment of the Department
• Established in 2009 to promote research in comparative literary studies.
• The ‘India Studies’ component was added to the department in the year 2014.
Responsibilities of the Department
o Examine literatures of the global south and develop an alternative
to the western models of comparative literary studies
o Develop a tri-continental comparative literary model comprising literatures from South Asia, Africa and Latin America due to an innovative paradigm shift
o Promote research and teaching in comparative studies and related areas
o Publish research articles and books
o Networking with other universities in India and abroad
o Promote collaborative projects
o Organize talks, seminars and workshops
