The Department of Training and Development organises in-service teacher development programmes for teachers of English at the primary, middle, secondary, and tertiary levels to facilitate language proficiency and develop teaching competency in contemporary classroom settings.

Currently, we are offering weekly virtual workshops in modules such as teaching language skills; classroom interaction; use of multimedia; action
research; lesson planning; error correction; testing and evaluation; going beyond the coursebook; professional oral communication skills
(interviews, meetings, presentations, etc.), professional written communication skills (reports, executive summaries, correspondence), etc.
These modularised workshops will also integrate NEP themes such as inclusion and diversity, differentiated instruction, social emotional learning,
multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary learning, training, teacher beliefs/ attitudes, use of ICT, use of AI, learning styles, addressing learning difficulties,
instructional materials design, experiential learning, etc.
We also plan to organise online workshops in English Communication Skills for both language and content teachers to facilitate proficiency in English –
to develop teachers’ language proficiency, oral communication and presentation skills, classroom communication, and social and professional communication.
Structure of the workshops
Frequency: weekly
Delivery: online
Duration: 6 hours – divided into 2 days (Fridays, 2 pm to 5 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 1 pm) of 3 hours each
Intake: Not more than 25 (minimum number of participants to run a workshop: 10)
Fees: Rs 1000 per week (for 2 sessions of 6 hours duration)

Participation
Since these are workshops, they are activity-driven; it’s advisable to have a large screen
device so you can work with the materials/ worksheets that the resource person will share.
At the end of the workshop, a link will be shared with you for downloading your certificate.
