Establishment of the Department
The Department was established in 1973 along with the Departments of Russian and French
Responsibilities of the Department
The responsibilities of the Department of Germanic Studies are to:
Teach German as a foreign language
Teach German literature
Train students in translation from English to German and vice-versa
Teach German culture
Promote research in the areas of German linguistics and phonetics, translation, German language teaching and German literature
Organize seminars and talks
Promote collaborative projects/exchange programmes for students
