- Dr. Anu Pande joined the Department of Germanic Studies at the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, in September 2010. She teaches BA and MA courses in literature, and culture and civilization of German-speaking countries, and supervises research scholars in the department. She studied at the Centre of German Studies, School of Languages, Literature and Culture Studies (SLL&CS), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and was awarded PhD in 2017 for her thesis titled “Die Literarisierung einer neuen Krankeitserfahrung: HIV/AIDS in der deutschen autobiographischen und autofiktionalen Literatur.” She has presented numerous papers at national and international conferences, participated in workshops in India and abroad, delivered invited talks at universities in India and Germany, published translations from German to Hindi and English, published a book, and multiple articles and chapters on representations of disease and death in literature, discourses of violence, Bernward Vesper and the Rote Armee Fraktion (RAF), animals in literature, and Human-Animal Studies. She is co-founder of the Indian Animal Studies Collective (IASC), a platform for Animal Studies researchers in India, which regularly invites leading Animal Studies scholars from all over the world for online discussions of their work, and archives recordings of these discussions on the IASC website and YouTube. Besides Hindi, English, and German, she has a working knowledge of French (B1).
