- As a member of the Dept. of Materials, Testing & Evaluation, I have been involved in materials design and development, textbook production and language testing. I offer courses in the areas of Curriculum, Syllabus and Instructional Materials, Applied Linguistics, and Reading Problems in the ESL Classroom at the PhD (ELE), MA, PGDTE, B.Ed and BA programmes and contribute to the Practicum module in teacher training courses. For many years now, I have taught English to multicultural and multilingual adults as part of the International Training Programme. I am currently a member of AIELTA, which creates language tests for the university and other external agencies. My primary research interests are Specific Language Impairment and Dyslexia with special reference to the ESL context. My areas of supervised research include visual impairment, metaphor comprehension, reading and vocabulary development, bilingual assessment, and translanguaging.Over the last10 years I have collaborated with researchers at Leibniz-Zentrum Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft (ZAS), Berlin, to adapt the Multilingual Assessment Instrument for Narratives (MAIN), an assessment tool for bilinguals, into more than 10 Indian languages. For details please check: https://main.leibniz-zas.de/ Narrative child language data using MAIN is available on the CHILDES database.
