- I analyze literary geography in works that recount the French colonial project. I argue that it is only through a deeper examination of the interaction between spatial paradigms and fictional characters can one better understand colonialism, which was after all an exercise in spatial expansion. In addition to several articles, I have published this research in a monograph titled, Spatial Boundaries, Abounding Spaces: Colonial Borders in French and Francophone Literature and Film (Leuven University Press, Belgium; 2021). Thanks to generous grants by the Paul Druwé Fund and the KU Leuven Fund for Fair Open Access the book is available in open access format through JSTOR and Project MUSE (https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/49717). This monograph has been reviewed in journals such as Esprit Créateur, Acta fabula, Political Geography, Literary Geographies and the French Review.
