- Before joining the EFL University, Monishita Hajra Pande served as the Assistant Director of Critical Writing programme at the Young India Fellowship (YIF), Ashoka University and worked as Assistant Professor (ELT) in Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) and in the School of Humanities at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi. She completed her PhD. and MPhil in English Language Education from EFL University, Hyderabad. She has a Masters in English (Linguistics) and in Spanish. Her PhD. thesis explored the use of a Self-Evaluation of Teacher Talk tool to promote critical reflection in in-service teachers. Her MPhil focused on cross-linguistic transfer of reading skills between Spanish and English among Indian learners and its effects on reading competence. Over the years, she has deeply engaged with issues of equity and social justice, and linguistic empowerment. She has taught courses in critical reading and writing, language politics, linguistics, language pedagogy, academic English, and proficiency enhancement. Her present research interests are multilingualism, trans-lingual practices, ESL reading and writing and teacher development. She has worked on several government projects on teacher training, curriculum renewal and materials development.
