Ever since I joined EFLU in July 2006 I have been teaching Phonetics for different streams-PGDTE,MA and B.Ed. Since then I have supervised many M.Litt. and Ph.D. students.Apart from this,I have been involved in all the programmes of the University which necessitated the teaching of Phonetics and spoken English-long term programmes like the International training programmes,distance mode PGCTE and PGDTE,and short term programmes conducted by the University-programmmes for Air Force Officers,IFS probationers etc. In my long tenure as a teacher I have been a resource person for many government initiated programmes-NUSSD,SCERT,Govt. of AP-TOT,UGC programmes, refresher courses, etc. I have also contributed to the preparation of distance education material. I have a passion to work with underprivileged students and help them realize their full potential

My thrust area of interest is articulatory and Pedagogical Phonetics.In learning English as a second or foreign language,pronunciation,rather than grammar, seems to be a major contributer to the breakdown in intelligibility. There is a great need for the teachers of English to be equipped with the problematic sounds in the different varieties of English-both of Indian Englishand world Englishes -to enable the teacher to focus on these sounds by providing the students withdrills and exercises. To this end most of my research students are encouraged to take up topics related to the analysis of problem areas and sounds in pronunciation of a particular variety.
