- I have a PhD in English Language Education with special focus on Second language acquisition from The EFL University, Hyderabad, India. I have been teaching and researching for the past 20 years. I am a teacher-educator with specialization in training both pre and in-service teachers on theories of second language acquisition and learning, classroom-based assessment and evaluation, ESL research methods and teaching writing skills. I also specialize in teaching and assessing academic reading and writing skills for young adult ESL and EFL learners. In addition to my teaching experience at The EFL University, I have taught and researched in the Technical University, Dresden, Germany and Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany. In addition to this I have published in my areas of research in peer-reviewed national and international journals and chapters in edited volumes of books. I have also presented at conferences both national and international (including key note and invited sessions) in India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Africa, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

- My areas of work include multilingual education and assessment in challenging contexts in India. Currently I am working on multiple impact study projects in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, UK, which look at the use of multilingual, and translanguaging pedagogy in the early reading classroom in the Indian multilingual context. It also includes training English and subject teachers to understand the usefulness of multilingual education and implement translanguaging strategies in developing reading comprehension and vocabulary skills in young learners. I am also interested in research of writing assessment especially of adult ESL/EFL learners and examining corpora based academic and research writing data of young research scholars in India.
